I grew up in a small town in southern Iowa called Afton. It is a rural, close-knit community with green, rolling hills and very friendly people. Most of my family still lives there so I try to visit frequently during the summer and holidays. I have two sisters, one brother, five nephews, and two neices.
I graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa and moved to Dallas less than one year later. After teaching Special Education in Dallas for a few years, I moved to Austin to teach kindergarten at Forest Creek Elementary. After spending 2 1/2 years in Kindergarten, I moved to 3rd grade in an effort to continue to develop my skills and experience. In 2012, I graduated from Texas State University with my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and earned my Principal's Certification.
I enjoy reading, wakeboarding, running, shopping, spending time with friends and family, and baking ~ I have a serious weakness for desserts!
I feel blessed to work at such a great school and I am looking forward to a fantastic year getting to know you and your family!
